Overview
Laura was called to the Bar in 2012. She practises predominantly in administrative law with a focus on tax law.
Laura holds a Bachelor of Commerce and Bachelor of Laws from the University of Queensland and a Master of Laws from the University of Sydney.
Prior to coming to the Bar she worked as a tax accountant in a Big 4 accounting firm and as a solicitor.
A key focus of Laura’s practice is tax law. She appears in the Federal Court of Australia and Administrative Appeals Tribunal in proceedings for both revenue authorities and taxpayers. She has over 15 years’ experience in advising clients, specifically in the areas of income tax including capital gains tax, trusts, R&D tax incentives and state based taxes and duties.
Other practice areas of administrative law include:
- occupational regulatory matters including for health practitioners, legal practitioners and tax accountants
- applications for judicial review and
- veterans’ entitlements proceedings.
Laura has appeared in all levels of the Queensland courts and QCAT in matters varying from customs and border protection proceedings to property and general commercial disputes.
